Jahmyr Gibbs is thankful to be a Detroit Lion.
The Lions star running back appeared on Up & Adams, and shared his thoughts on how happy he is to be in Detroit…despite the cold.
“When I was in the draft process, I said I just didn’t want to go to a team up north,” Gibbs joked.
“That’s the only thing I said.”
“At least you got a dome,” Kay Adams chimed in. “God gave you half your little Christmas wish.”
Gibbs quickly saved himself.
“I’m happy I came here though.”
Adams then asked him if he could imagine playing anywhere else.
“The Cowboys wanted to get me too…Imagine if I was a Cowboy right now?
“I’d be so sick. I’d be hot.”
For those wondering, sick and hot have negative connotations in this case.
To understand why, all you have to do is look at the two team’s records.
The Cowboys have struggled all year, scuffling to 6-8.
Meanwhile, the Lions are 12-2 and have looked every bit the part as the best team in the league, despite being ravaged by injuries.
Gibbs has blossomed into an elite runner in his second year.
Paired with fellow running mate, David Montgomery, the two have formed the NFL’s best and most dangerous backfield this season.
Nicknamed Sonic and Knuckles, Gibbs and Montgomery have helped lead a Lions offense that ranks near or at the top in most categories.
Unfortunately for Detroit, Montgomery was injured last week and is unclear when he will return.
For now, the bulk of the carries will fall on Gibbs’ shoulders.
He has taken his game to the next level during his short time in Detroit, while Dallas’ rushing attack has been pedestrian this season.
There’s no question Jerry Jones would have loved to see Gibbs in Cowboy blue, as opposed to Honolulu blue.
Luckily for Lions fans, Gibbs made it clear that the only place he’d like to be, is in the Motor City.
Sorry Jerry.
For all intent’s and purposes, America’s Team can now be found in Detroit.
