Big game, this one. KCCA host SC Villa in the Premier League with the Jogoos chasing their first win away to the Kasasiro in more than a decade. Here is our combined XI of the two sides purely based on current season performances.
GK: Mutwalibi Mugolofa (KCCA)
Mugolofa’s form at the minute is exceptional. Arguably the best goalkeeper in the league at the moment with the most clean sheets. He beats Villa’s combination of three custodians that have all had chance to feature just under 12 league matches.
RB: David Owori (Villa)
Gavin Kizito’s potential as a right back is undoubted but Owori has been special for Villa.
Owori has been incredibly consistent since he fully went into fullback and despite playing dominantly in midfield in his career, he is establishing self as one of the best right backs since he transitioned.
LB: James Mubeezi (KCCA)
Kato Ssemayange was obviously in the conversation but picking Mubeezi was an easy decision.
The KCCA academy graduate has been more consistent and one of the first names on Abdallah Mubiru’s team sheet forcing both experienced Isa Mubiru and Ibrahim Juma to bench roles.
CB: Hassan Muhamood (KCCA)
There are not very many superior centre-backs in domestic football than Hassan Muhamood. He has been outstanding since signing for the Lugogo based side and the centre-back partnership he has with Mustafa Mujjuzi is ridiculously strong.
CB: Mustafa Mujjuzi (KCCA)
Arguably the most improved player in the division at the moment and his choice to make the team is also based on partnership with Hassan which has been as hard as a rock.
DM: Joel Sserunjogi (KCCA)
The easiest of choices in this selection. The best player in his position without doubt.
CM: Tonny Atukunda (Villa)
The youngster is one of the revelations of the season. However, his choice is likely to attract a debate as we overlooked Ashraf Mugume and Said Mayanja as well as teammate Ronald Ssekiganda and the debate will rage on but that is understandable.
Atukunda makes Villa tick with possession and fights for it when its lost as well.
CAM: Patrick Kakande (Villa)
Kakande’s deployment in the number 10 role has given Morley Byekwaso chance to play more attacking players and it explains why Villa are the leading scorers in the division.
Most of their goals have come from Kakande’s brilliant work from this position.
RW: Shafik Nana Kwikiriza (KCCA)
KCCA’s most attacking threat and rightfully earns his place on this team.
LW: Hakim Kiwanuka (Villa)
Kiwanuka’s choice on the left side attack means we leave out Ettiene Katenga but the Angolan important hasn’t been the same since losing his father and probably his place in the KCCA team until the Wakiso Giants game.
CF: Charles Lwanga (Villa)
Another easy choice. In a season the KCCA forwards are struggling for goals, Lwanga has improved his game in terms of both goals and hold up play.
He already has 8 goals to his name and the battle between Lwanga, Muhamood and Mujjuzi will be the most entertaining one of the day.
