AFRIYEA Golf Academy, a junior golf development program in Uganda, has announced the launch of its Mentorship Program 2025.

This initiative is designed to empower young golfers from underprivileged backgrounds by connecting them with experienced industry mentors.

The program seeks to provide a platform for young talent to gain invaluable insights, build professional networks, and overcome barriers to entry in the sport, fostering greater diversity and inclusion within the global golfing community.

Opportunities for Aspiring Golfers

The academy, which integrates golf training with life skills and environmental education, has developed the mentorship program to pair mentees with mentors based on their career goals and personal aspirations.

“Our intention for this mentorship program is to open up a world of opportunities for the golf industry to connect, share experiences, and provide career guidance while encouraging cultural exchange and diversity,” said Isaiah Mwesige, Chief Executive Officer of the AFRIYEA Golf Academy.

“Through this program, young people will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and connections they need to excel both on and off the course, shaping them into future leaders of the sport and their communities.” he added.

Benefits for Mentors

The program has been designed to ensure a mutually rewarding relationship for both mentors and mentees

1. Global Networking: Mentors will gain access to an exclusive platform to connect with fellow professionals, exchange ideas, and collaborate on initiatives promoting diversity and sustainability in golf.

2. Professional Recognition: Contributions from mentors will be publicly acknowledged, with certificates of appreciation and recognition on Afriyea Golf Academy’s platforms.

3. Event Participation: Mentors will be invited to an annual networking event in Uganda, combining cultural exploration with professional engagements. This event will coincide with World Youth Day in November.

4. Mentee Impact Reports: Regular updates on mentees’ progress, including their golf performance, academic achievements, and personal development, will be shared with mentors.

How It Works

Mentors will commit to virtual meetings with their mentees at least once every three months, with the flexibility to arrange additional sessions as needed.

Afriyea Golf Academy’s online platform will facilitate seamless communication, progress tracking, and resource sharing.

Individual mentors or companies interested in participating will pay a monthly fee of £10 or $12 to be matched with a mentee.
