Tyson Fury was not best pleased with an AI scorecard’s verdict on his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.
Fury was looking to avenge his defeat to Usyk in an illustrious heavyweight sequel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
But unfortunately for the ‘Gypsy King’ he was beaten on the judges scorecards at the second time of asking.
The official judges scorecards all determined that ‘The Cat’ was the victor by unanimous decision by a margin of 116-112.
Fury couldn’t believe that, insisting he had done enough to get his hand raised, suggesting he had won by at least three rounds.
It had been revealed before the contest that an AI scorecard had been in action.
But it would not determine the official score, merely acting as a background experiment.
During the DAZN live stream, it was revealed in full, and incredibly it had Usyk by an even wider margin.
It scored the contest at 118-112 in favour of the defending champion, judging Fury to have had even less success.
The Briton was informed of the AI score at the post-fight press conference and he wasn’t too impressed.
He said in an angry assessment: “S**t. F**k all computers, keep humans.
“More jobs for human, less jobs for computers.
But AI tended to agree with the judges[/caption]
“F**k electric cars too.”
It was clear he felt hard done by, a stance echoed by himself and his whole team who believed he did enough to become a three-time heavyweight king.
The AI scorecard was revealed in full and it showed Fury to have won the first two rounds.
It only gave Fury one more round, the fifth, in the entire contest, an extremely brutal assessment of proceedings.
Punch statistics showed it wasn’t quite dominance as determined by AI, with Fury having been the more active.
He threw more than Usyk at a margin of 509 to his rival’s 423, but was unfortunately less efficient.
The British star landed just 144 to his rival’s 172, giving him a punch completion of 28 per cent to Usyk’s 42 per cent.
Despite the verdict of the technology, Fury’s Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren was bewildered.
He suggested that during his long and successful stint in the sport, he hadn’t seen a scorecard like it.
He said: It’s nuts. Did you have him as only winning four rounds out of eight?
“Very harsh. It’s nuts. I don’t get it. But it is what it is, and we’ll see what happens in the future with Tyson.
“Tyson was dumbfounded. They gave him four rounds out of the 12, which is impossible.
“I’ve been around a long time and I know I’m biased, but one judge didn’t give him, any rounds from round six onwards. Look! No rounds. How can that be? That’s impossible.
“Same with the other judge. They gave him one round in the last six, and the same here with this guy. It’s crazy. I’m calm and collected, I’m not screaming and shouting. That is nonsense.”
