A year of championships

The academy’s commitment to developing young golfers was on full display with the organization of seven junior golf competitions tailored to challenge players across different skill levels.

One of the standout events was the Tooro Kingdom Inter-Clans Golf Championship, which brought together young players from diverse backgrounds to celebrate the region’s rich cultural heritage through sport.

Additionally, the Parent-Child Golf Championship highlighted the unifying power of golf, creating cherished memories for families.

Expanding the game’s reach

This year, AFRIYEA Golf Academy didn’t just stop at organizing competitions. The academy ventured into schools and villages, breaking down barriers to the sport.

In Fort Portal, institutions such as Tooro Parents Education Centre, Green Circle, and Glory to Glory Education integrated golf into their curricula, while in Kamwenge District, the academy established a Village Golf Hub.

This initiative transformed local homes into training grounds, where children honed their skills in the comfort of their communities.

Sustainability at the core

AFRIYEA Golf Academy has always championed environmental sustainability.

This year, it continued its monthly clean-up drives, raising awareness about climate change and spearheading tree-planting initiatives.

These efforts not only beautified the landscape but also underscored the academy’s dedication to preserving the environment a value deeply rooted in its mission.

An International spotlight

The academy’s impact transcended borders, earning international recognition when founder Isaiah Mwesige appeared on Sky Sports during the Open Championship hosted by Henni Koyack, the world’s oldest golf tournament.

His presence delivered a powerful message: AFRIYEA Golf Academy is at the forefront of East Africa’s golf development, fostering talent and promoting sustainability.

Innovating beyond the course

The academy’s influence extended into the realms of broadcasting and agronomy.

This year, young golfers were introduced to broadcasting and podcasting, equipping them with skills to thrive in the broader golf industry.

Meanwhile, the integration of a greenkeeping program into schools provided students with hands-on experience in course maintenance, nurturing a deeper understanding of agronomy and golf course management.
