Constant rain prompted several pitch inspections from the referee to assess the safety of the playing surface.

Despite all efforts made by the ground staff to remove the water, the referee ultimately called the game off.

It marked the second League One game on New Year’s Day to be postponed.

Wigan Athletic were unable to proceed with their game against Huddersfield Town.
