Gerwyn Price has revealed an untreated medical issue with his ears troubled him during this year’s World Championship.
Price made it to the quarter-finals of the 2025 PDC World Championship, producing glimpses of his best form on stage at Alexandra Palace.

But in a barnstorming clash, he crashed out and failed to progress to the semi-finals having been narrowly beaten 5-3 by Chris Dobey in a thrilling contest.
It has been a difficult year for ‘The Iceman’, who has suffered with injuries, and taken a break from the sport having admitted to falling out of love with the arrows.
But he showed he is capable of being one of the sport’s biggest stars up on stage, and a more promising 2025 lays in store.
Price suffered with double trouble on the night against Dobey, failing to capitalise on multiple opportunities to win crucial sets and legs.
He had a finishing rate of 26.79 per cent during the match, pinning just 15 of his 57 attempts at double.
But Price has revealed it wasn’t just trouble on the board he suffered from at the oche.
When discussing his challenges so far this year during an interview before the match, he revealed he was also taking antibiotics for an issue with his ears.
He said: “It feels like I have been in a swimming pool of water. It’s frustrating. I pop my ears and it feels fine.
“It’s a nightmare, it’s doing my head in. I’ve been taking antibiotics for a week and they are not working.

“Two minutes later, I have to do it again. It’s hard work. I have had this problem for the last six, seven, eight years, I am used to it now.
“I’m supposed to see an Ear, Throat and Nose specialist, but it’s too busy, isn’t it?.
“I miss so many appointments with the ENT. You end up having a tournament here and there. I end up playing darts.”
Despite his struggles, Price still managed to make a run in the tournament and earned a tidy £50,000 in prize money.
In the live PDC Order of Merit, Price currently sits ninth in the rankings having boosted his position.
Only Dobey has climbed above him now and may have stolen a potential slot in the Premier League next year.

When assessing the match, the Geordie insisted Price wasn’t at his best which allowed him to capitalise and move one step closer to the Sid Waddell Trophy.
He told talkSPORT: “Yeah of course you have to take the chances against Gezzy.
“He wasn’t at his best today, but you have to punish at every opportunity.
“I thought my scoring was fantastic today and yeah it was what I had to do.
“Gezzy is normally great on them doubles and he missed quite a few today.
“But the crowd were fantastic and it helped get me through.”
