SC Villa ended their four-game winless streak by overcoming URA FC on Saturday at the Luzira Prisons Ground.
The Jogoos had gone four games without victory and this had put coach Morley Byekwaso under immense pressure with some fans calling for his sacking.
In that run, they lost 2-1 to NEC FC and drew the other three against Lugazi FC, Police FC and KCCA FC with an identical score of 1-1.
It should be noted that SC Villa shifted their home base from Wankulukuku and temporarly moved to Luzira. The former venue is undergoing renovation ahead of CHAN 2024.
In today’s game, the League record Champions missed the services of striker Charles Lwanga and the coach was prompted to hand Francis Onekalit a starting place.
The gangly forward paid off the coach’s faith by scoring the lone goal of the game in the 62nd minute.
The forward was at the end of a well worked counter-attack by the Jogoos, finishing from close range.
The result comes as a sigh of relief for coach Byekwaso with his charges moving up to seventh place on 20 points while URA FC remained sixth with just above the Jogoos.
