Bournemouth vs West Bromwich Albion predictions
Bournemouth are having an outstanding season. The Cherries sit seventh in the Premier League with 33 points from 20 matches. They are just one point behind sixth-place Manchester City, and three outside of the top four and the Champions League positions.
Andoni Iraola is now in his second season in charge at the Vitality Stadium, and after some early doubts, is now really making a name for himself.
The Cherries have recorded home wins over Arsenal (2-0) and Manchester City (2-1) this season. On the road, life has been good as well, with a 1-1 draw at Aston Villa and a comprehensive 3-0 win over Manchester United the main highlights.
The win at Old Trafford was part of the eight-match unbeaten run the Cherries are now on – their longest-ever unbeaten run of form in the top flight. And unbelievably, a finish in one of the European places is now on the cards for Iraola and his team.
In their most recent outing, the Cherries defeated Everton 1-0 at the Vitality last Saturday. David Brooks got the winner after 77 minutes.
As for West Brom, they are chasing a return to the promised land of the Premier League. The Baggies sit 6th in the Championship with 40 points from 26 matches.
Unfortunately for West Brom, they lost the services of manager Carlos Corberan over the Christmas period. The in-demand boss headed back to Spain to take over at Valencia. The Baggies are still searching for his replacement, with Chris Brunt currently in caretaker charge.
Since Corberan left, the Baggies have picked up just five points from four matches. First, they lost 2-1 to Derby County on Boxing Day. That was followed by a more-than-credible 1-1 draw away at title-chasing Sheffield United.
A 3-1 home win over Preston followed, with a 1-1 draw away at Swansea last weekend their most recent result. Tom Fellows gave the Baggies the lead in south Wales. But they couldn’t hold on for the three points, with Joe Allen scoring a 92nd-minute equaliser for the Swans.
Bournemouth vs West Bromwich Albion betting tips
Does Bournemouth shoot for the stars and put all their eggs in the Champions League basket? Or do they adopt a more realistic approach and, in their current form, prioritise a good cup run?
As for West Brom, the equation is surely on finishing in the top six of the Championship at the end of the season. Nothing can get in the way of that.
We would expect some rotation from Andoni Iraola for his Bournemouth team, but not too much. As for the Baggies, we would expect them to be more focused on their next Championship fixture against Stoke City.
We can see the Baggies putting out an under-strength team and a comfortable home win for Bournemouth. More of our Bournemouth vs West Bromwich Albion betting tips are below:
Bournemouth to win and both teams to score
West Brom have scored in their last nine matches. They have only kept two clean sheets in this sequence of fixtures.
Bournemouth has kept three clean sheets in their last five matches, and with only 23 goals conceded in the Premier League this season, have the fifth-best defence in the division.
Free Bet Offers
That said, this is a free hit for West Brom. If they go through, great. If they get knocked out, they can focus on the Championship.
In a no-lose situation, we expect to see the Baggies go for it, and we can see them scoring at the Vitality Stadium. We can also see the home team winning.
Back Bournemouth to win and both teams to score at 9/4 with Sky Bet
Justin Kluivert to score or assist
With injuries to strikers Evanilson and his regular deputy Enes Unal, Bournemouth will need players to step up to the plate to help fill the void.
One man who has chipped in with goals this season is top scorer Justin Kluivert. The Dutchman is far from prolific and only has six goals. But Bournemouth aren’t a high-scoring team.
On the one occasion when the Cherries did go rampant this season (the 4-2 win away at Wolves), Kluivert bagged himself a hat-trick of penalties. The Dutchman also chipped in with a goal in the 3-0 win at Old Trafford, Bournemouth’s other big win in this campaign.
If Bournemouth go all out for the win against the Baggies, expect Kluivert to have a role to play. He is 9/5 to score or 6/5 to score or assist. We are going with the latter.
Justin Kluivert to score or assist at 6/5 with BetMGM
Tom Fellows to score or assist
The departed Carlos Corberan may be taking a lot of the credit for West Brom’s impressive form this season, but one player who really has been key to the Baggies’ run to the top six is Tom Fellows.
The 21-year-old midfielder has provided ten assists and scored two goals for West Brom this season. Such is his good form, Fellows is now being linked with a move to the Premier League in the January transfer window, with Everton and Crystal Palace rumoured to be interested.
Furthermore, Fellows has been in great form over the Christmas period. He has been involved in four goals in his last five matches, with three assists and one goal. The goal came against Swansea last weekend.
