Morocco coach Walid Regragui has reiterated that playing as hosts at the forthcoming 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations will come with additional pressure.

Morocco will host the 35th edition of Africa’s premier tournament starting December 21 to January 18, 2026 in different cities.

“Of course, there is additional pressure, but we’re not going to hide from it,” Regragui told the press after the draw.

“This pressure is not just on me as the coach but also on the players. It’s a big responsibility, but it’s one we accept with pride.”

Morocco, despite producing some of the best players on the continent over the years has won just one title and it came in 1976.

“There are supporters who have dreamed of this trophy staying in Morocco since 1976,” Regragui noted.

“The sacred union between the team and the fans will be crucial. This pressure must be positive, and even if it becomes negative, we’ll handle it. We are highly motivated and have all the conditions to have a great tournament.”

The Atlas Lions are in Group A alongside 2012 champions Zambia, Mali and fast rising Comoros.
