68 goals scored at the round of 64 | 51st Stanbic Uganda Cup

The round of 64 for the 51^st edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup was successfully completed.

Out of the 32 scheduled matches, 30 were played with two games not played for different reasons.

Onduparaka failed to travel to Bushenyi for their contest against Bushenyi Veterans whilst Soroti Thunders and Blacks Power duel was marred by dramatic scenes.

Blacks Power reported to the exact venue as per the fixtures where the referees were and Soroti Thunders opted to go to another venue.

As many as 68 goals were scored at this stage with UPDF’s 4-2 victory New Life Katereke producing the most goals in a single fixture, six.

This was followed Simba’s 3-2 home win against Mbale Heroes in Namulonge.

Simba’s victory was the only shock where a top flight club and former winner (1996 champion) was eliminated.

There were two 4-0 identical scores with current holders Kitara and last year’s losing finalists NEC triumphing over Young Simba and UCU (Mbale) respectively.

Maroons, Sports Club Villa, Packwach Young Stars, CATDA all recorded 3-0 wins over Water, Seeta United, Kigezi Home Boyz and Mawokota United respectively.

Five matches were determined via the tense post-match penalties after stalemates in normal time (two draws were barren).

The level of competition was noticeably tense with most higher division clubs gritting their teeth to register positive results over lowly opposition.

Remarkably, at this stage, eight FUFA Big League clubs were eliminated and one topflight side (Mbale Heroes).

The date for draw for the round of 32 will be communicated soon by the FUFA Competitions department.

The winner of the Stanbic Uganda Cup earns a ticket to represent the country at the CAF Confederation Cup.
