Liverpool and Barcelona are the only two teams to have guaranteed themselves a top eight finish so far, automatically sending them straight through to the last 16 of the tournament and avoiding a knockout phase play-off.
Arsenal are sitting pretty in third place with five wins from their seven games so far and are all but guaranteed to join the other two in the last 16 with a top eight finish, three points ahead of ninth with a very healthy goal difference.
Aston Villa are that side in ninth place, with only goal difference separating them from the all important top eight ahead of their match against Celtic, for whom only goal difference separates them from a top 16 finish.
The Scottish champions have already booked their place in the knockout stage play-off but would like to earn themselves a seeded team in the round, with the side currently 18th, level on points with Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Juventus.
Manchester City face an unlikely must win game against Club Brugge having only picked up eight points from their seven outing so far, with three points only being enough to see them unseeded into the knockout stage play offs.
