The Kansas City Chiefs are already planning their next Super Bowl parade.

Despite 10 days remaining until the NFL championship game against the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans, Patrick Mahomes‘ team has reportedly decided how a potential three-peat celebration will be handled.

If they win, the reigning champs are not planning to hold a public rally at Union Station, according to KSHB, which has been the normal procedure during Kansas City’s last three Super Bowl victories and the Kansas City Royals‘ World Series title in 2015.

The Chiefs will still have a parade if they win the Super Bowl, although the route could be changed.

Some fans immediately questioned the team’s thinking with Super Bowl LIX not being played until February 9 at the Superdome in New Orleans.

“Let’s win first,” one fan tweeted.

Advance planning for something of this magnitude is not uncommon and, considering the tragedy that unfolded at the 2024 where one person was killed and 22 were wounded when a gunman opened fire, security and public safety is top of the list of priorities.

Some fans fully understood this, while hoping the Chiefs live stream the event and hold an eventual public gathering at Arrowhead Stadium.

“They should at least stream the rally,” one suggested. “Would be a shame not to get to celebrate the (three-peat) with them.”

“If 1 million people go to Arrowhead instead, you know to tailgate,” a second fan wrote.

“We can’t have nice things sadly,” a third fan posted.

On 14 February, 2024, Travis Kelce, Andy Reid and Co. were celebrating their win over the San Francisco 49ers in front of an estimated one million supporters when gun shots were fired.

But fans were later forced to flee for safety after shots were fired[/caption]

Kansas City police chief Stacey Graves said shots were fired on the west side of Union Station.

“Immediately, officers responded to the area, took two people into custody and also immediately rendered life-sustaining aid to those victims,” Graves said.

The players had to be rushed to safety as panic in the city spread.

Now, a year later, Kansas City is already having to plan ahead if the Chiefs become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowl trophies.

“We are truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside of Union Station at the conclusion of today’s parade and rally,” a Chiefs statement said in 2024.

“Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and all of Kansas City.”

Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, visited people children injured in the shooting in hospital and donated $50k to the KC Strong emergency response fund.

Kelce and girlfriend Taylor Swift, donated $100k to the family of Elizabeth Lopez-Galvan, who lost her life in the tragedy.

The Chiefs now face an Eagles team containing Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley in the Superdome.

Kansas City is slightly favored but Philadelphia is coming off an NFC Championship game blowout of Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders.

The Chiefs have worked with several Kansas City organizations to discuss their upcoming plans if they win the Super Bowl.

A parade is still a possibility, while a private rally could also take place.
