
The fourth edition of Riyadh Marathon was held on Saturday, 8th February 2025 in Saudi Arabia with a mammoth crowd taking part.
Uganda’s Abel Chelangat completed the 42 KM race in 6th place with a timing of 2:08:49.
For starters, Chelangat, 29, won the 2024 Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon (2:14:59), attracting the eye of scouts from the Adidas team.
Two months later, he competed in the 20th Porto Marathon, coming out victorious and earned €5,000 (approximately Shs19,000,000) richer as prize money.

The male winner was Emmanuel Kemboi Kipchumba (Kenya) with a time of 2:08:32.
Ethiopian Gudeta Kebede Nestanet was the female winner with 2:27:24.
Meanwhile, another Ugandan Hosea Kiplangat was fourth in the half marathon (21KM) with a timing of 01:03:05.
Ethiopia’s Nega Bereke Batebo won the male half marathon race (01:02:28) as Sara Yousef (01:54:58) took the female 21KM race.
There were also the 10KM and 4KM fun races compete in for families, kids, and beginners.
At least 40,000 runners from across the world took part.
