Terence Crawford is much heavier than many boxing fans would expect.
‘Bud’ moved up to super welterweight (154lbs) in August to snatch the WBA title away from Israil Madrimov after achieving undisputed supremacy at super lightweight (140lbs), and welterweight (147lbs).
Prior to that, he boxed as low as lightweight (135lbs) but in September he is set to jump two weight classes to take on Canelo Alvarez at super middleweight (168lbs).
Canelo is a natural 168lber and holds three of the four major sanctioning body belts at the weight.
Given the size disparity between the pair, the expectation was that a rehydration clause would be added to their contracts to level the playing field for their summer showdown.
The contractual agreement limits how much weight a fighter can gain between the weigh-in and the start of a fight through a second-day weigh check.
However, it has since been disclosed that there will be no such clause.
Several members of the boxing fraternity believe this choice will be to Crawford’s detriment, with many insisting that the Omaha puncher is too small to give Canelo problems.
But Crawford will have calmed a few of his backers’ nerves by revealing that he is walking around way above the 168lbs limit 7 months before his fight.
On Sunday night, ‘Bud’ took to social media to post a picture of him tipping the scales at 186lbs.
He then followed that up by sending a video message to Ring Magazine.
“What is up y’all,” he said. “I am looking forward to being undisputed in September.

While Crawford has chosen to stay sidelined until he squares off with Canelo, the Mexican superstar is due to return to the ring in May against William Scull.
Scull holds the final piece of the undisputed puzzle, the IBF belt, which Canelo was stripped of in July for refusing to fight the Cuban, who was his mandatory at the time.
Instead, Canelo opted to take on Edgar Berlanga in September while Scull was matched up against Vladimir Shishkin in a vacant IBF world title fight in October, which he won, albeit controversially, via unanimous decision.
There were reports circulating in January that Scull and Canelo were in talks to fight each other but nothing ever came to fruition.
Providing Canelo wins that fight he will crowned undisputed super middleweight champion for a second time, thus handing Crawford the opportunity to win all four belts in a third weight class.
