Chorley-born fighter Catterall has been enjoying a career renaissance after beating Josh Taylor in their rematch before seeing off Regis Prograis.

The current holder of the WBO super-lightweight belt is Teofimo Lopez.

So, whoever wins this will face the 27-year-old American next.

Barboza Jr has an incredible record of 31 wins, with 11 coming via knockout, but this will be a serious test against El Gato.

Jack Catterall vs Arnold Barboza Jr: What has been said?

Despite being unbeaten, Catterall doesn’t rate his opponent very highly.

Speaking ahead of the clash, he said: “I respect his ability, but I don’t think he’s a great fighter.

“I think he’s average.”

Meanwhile, for Barboza Jr, this is huge chance.

He said: “I’ve been calling for this fight since 2022. This is a great opportunity, and I hope it is sold out. 20,000 fans bullying me is going to turn me on.

“This is something that I’ve dreamed about. This is a fight that I’ve been waiting for my whole career. I’ve worked hard to get here, just like him, so let’s get it on.

“I feel like my whole career, I’ve been the underdog. Even when I’m the favourite, I think I’ve been overlooked. People are finally getting to see who Barboza is.

“On February 15th, my hand will be raised and that belt will come with me. I’m overall a better fighter than him.

“He can call me a B-class fighter, but the only thing special about him is that he is a lefty. But we’ll find out. We can talk, but we’ll find out.”
