AS Roma vs FC Porto predictions
The honours were shared when the two sides met in the first leg at the Estadio do Dragao last Thursday.
Mehmet Zeki Celik put Roma ahead five minutes into first half stoppage time. His goal was cancelled out by Francisco Moura on 67 minutes.
And when Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante saw red just five minutes later, it was backs-against-the-wall stuff for the visitors as Claudio Ranieri’s men hung on gallantly for a crucial draw.
The stalemate extended Porto’s unbeaten run against Roma to five matches. But the Giallorossi now have a great chance to end that sequence by beating Martin Anselmi’s team on home turf.
Roma sealed their place in the Europa League playoffs by beating Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico on Matchday 8. The win saw Ranieri’s men finish 15th in the table on 12 points.
Roma’s improvement under Ranieri continued on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Parma on the road. The win was their third in a row away from home, and this, after the Giallorossi won none of their first ten.
Roma are now also nine games unbeaten in Serie A. They sit ninth in the table with 37 points from 25 matches.
Porto qualified for the Round of 16 playoffs by beating Maccabi Tel Aviv 1-0 on Matchday 8. The win saw Martin Anselmi’s team finish 18th in the group with 11 points.
The Dragon’s second half performance against Roma last Thursday was in direct contrast to their recent poor form. Ahead of the first leg, Martin Anselmi’s team had won just one of their previous eight matches in all competitions.
The fightback seems to have sparked some life into the Dragons.
A five-match winless run in the Primeira Liga came to an end on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Farense on the road. Francisco Moura got the only goal of the game, continuing his good goal scoring form after the attacking left back also scored against Roma just three days earlier.
The Dragons were fully deserving of their first league win since December 28th, and along with their improved second half performance against Roma last Thursday, it could be that the Portuguese outfit has finally turned a corner.

Roma to win
Despite Porto’s better performances in their last match and a half, their improvement pales into insignificance when compared to that of Roma.
The Giallorossi may be ninth in Serie A, but don’t let that fool you, as their form is as good as anybody else’s in Italy at the moment.

Claudio Ranieir has completely turned Roma’s league season around. They have picked up 21 points from a possible 27 since their last loss, a 2-0 away defeat to Como on December 15th.
Porto are well able to cause Roma problems. But Ranieri’s men just look in a far better place at the moment and have to be backed to get the win in 90 minutes.

Both teams to score
We can see Roma winning, but with the home team having conceded in five of their nine unbeaten matches in Serie A, we feel they may not keep a clean sheet.
Furthermore, the Dragons showed they have plenty of attacking capabilities in the first leg. They may have had to rely on an attacking left back to score their last two goals, but Martin Anselmi’s team has the attacking talent to find the net in Rome.
Betfred is offering a market on both teams to score and the match not to end in a draw. That is 7/4 and is a good option as it would cover results like 2-1 or 3-1 to either team.
Either way, odds of just under even money on both teams to score looks good value.

Artem Dovbyk to score anytime
There is uncertainty around the fitness of Paulo Dybala. So with Roma set to be without their star striker, more responsibility will fall onto the shoulder’s of Artem Dovbyk.
In anticipation of this match, Dovbyk sat out Sunday’s 1-0 win over Parma. The striker was on the bench in case he was needed.
The Ukrainian is Roma’s top scorer in Serie A with eight goals and three assists in 22 matches. In more recent times, he has scored four and provided two assists in Roma’s last eight.
Dovbyk also provided the assist for Mehmet Zeki Celik’s goal in the first leg in Porto. He is 4/5 to score or assist and 11/10 just to score. We are going for the latter at the better odds.
