Eddie Hearn has backed a ‘possessed’ Conor Benn to stop Chris Eubank Jr in just six rounds.

The bitter rivals will finally lock horns on April 26 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, over 900 days after they were initially slated to fight.

Both men have picked up two wins in the time since the fight was cancelled, with Eubank Jr claiming the IBO world middleweight title in Saudi Arabia as Benn watched on from ringside.

The pair shared a heated face-off inside the ring after the scrap, setting the stage for the long-awaited grudge match.

Although there won’t be any titles involved for the bout, there’s plenty of pride on the line given the duo’s fathers, Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn, shared a famous rivalry in the 1990s.

It’s why Hearn walked away with his mind blown having witnessed one of Benn’s training sessions in the lead-up as the 28-year-old looks to cement his legacy.

“Honestly, I’ve never seen anyone train like Conor Benn,” Hearn told talkSPORT Breakfast.

“We live in an age where they like to document their work. Conor Benn is training like a man possessed.

“I think Chris Eubank’s on the beach at the minute. He hits pads for about 30 seconds and then puts it out on Instagram.”

Hearn also revealed there will be a two-stop press conference, with one to be held next week.

To add to the atmosphere, both fathers will be in attendance as Hearn promised ‘absolute fireworks’.

However, the Matchroom chairman could not promise Benn would keep things civil at the press conference.

“Conor Benn’s so wound up,” Hearn said.

“He ain’t gonna listen to me. When they get face-to-face, all bets are off, anything can happen.

Hearn added: “The reality is, when they come face-to-face next week, Conor Benn wants it on sight now, not April 26th. He’s ready to go.”

One of the most intriguing elements of the bout is the 160lb catchweight it will be contested at.

The weight is three pounds heavier than what was agreed between the pair for their cancelled bout in October 2022.

Eubank Jr is the man who will benefit most, given middleweight is what he traditionally fights at.

As for Benn, he is moving up two divisions in weight.

The weight element is why Hearn believes April’s bout between the two is ‘a pure 50-50 fight’, but he still expects Benn to come flying out of the gates like a junkyard dog.

“In my opinion, Conor Benn is on another level to Chris Eubank Jr,” Hearn said.

“But in stepping up two divisions, physically he’s at a huge disadvantage.

“When the bell goes at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, this young man will come out and set about Chris Eubank like he’s never been set about before.

“He will not know what is happening, where the punches are coming from and what kind of speed this is. This fight could be over in six rounds.”
