San Antonio Spurs All-Star Victor Wembanyama is expected to miss reminder of the season with a deep vein thrombosis in right shoulder,” Charania wrote.

“Victor Wembanyama has a form of a blood clot in the right shoulder.

“He is out for the season.

“The Spurs believe this is an isolated condition.”

The second-year pro made the All-Star team and last played in the event on Sunday night.

The Athletic’s Sam Amick reported that, “Wembanyama had experienced low energy lately that was causing concern.

“When he still had low energy at All-Star weekend, and through his two-day vacation after it, the tests began that ultimately uncovered the deep vein thrombosis.”

San Antonio will be taking all precautions when it comes to their franchise player.

They are expecting their 21-year-old superstar to make a full recovery.

In 2019, Brandon Ingram also developed deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in his shoulder and missed the final 19 games of the regular season.

He made a full recovery and was ready for the opening game the following year, even making the All-Star team that season.

There is no reason to believe Wembanyama won’t be back in time for the start of next season.

In his historic sophomore campaign, Wembanyama averaged 24.3 points, 11 rebounds and 3.8 blocks.

He was an All-Star and was the heavy favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year.

However, Wembanyama is now ineligible for any end of seasons awards and honors, as he will have only played in 46 games.

The NBA’s requirement is 65 games.

While ultimately a somber end to Wembanyama’s second season, the future is still as bright as can be.

And here’s hoping this will be just a blip on the radar when it’s all said and done.
