The 2025 Uganda Squash open will officially wind-down on Saturday, 22nd February at the lavish courts of Rock Classic Hotel in Tororo, Eastern Uganda.
The grand climax will come after a tense week of grueling action right from the preliminary rounds to the knock-out stages.
Action on Friday witnessed the semi-finals in both the plate and main championship for either gender.
Uganda’s main hope Paul Kadoma lost 0-3 to the hard hitting Nigerian Femi Shedara in the semi-finals.

Shedara convincingly won all the three sets 11-05, 11-06 and 11-02 to set up a finale against 2023 Uganda Open champion Muqtadir Nimji from Kenya.
Nimji had won 3-1 over India’s Dixit Ravi (05-11, 11-04, 05-11, 05-11) during the first semi-final for the men.
“I believe it will be an interesting final. There is enough time to rest before the final comes and will be ready” Nimji who is coached by the father remarked.
The Nigerian ace Femi hails from Edo State and was sponsored by the Quadcan Well Energy. He is equally geared up for the final.
“I am excited having knocked out Kadoma (the Ugandan) who is also very good. I never gave him the chance to think. In the final, it will be a completely different game strategy that I look forward to” Femi disclosed.

The main final for the female is between 2023 champion Rofiat Abdulazeez from Nigeria against Zimbabwe’s Polite Mubule.
Rofiat eliminated Kenya’s Elizabeth Mulwa 3-0 whilst Mubule ejected Zambian Mbewe Kaluba.
“I am hoping to play a good game in the final. There is need to minimize the mistakes against a very good player as Rofiat in the final” Mubule, a member of Belgravia club in Harare states.
Before the main finals, there will be the third place play off matches and the plate finals.

Over 100 players from Uganda, Egypt, Ghana, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Rwanda, Pakistan, India, Namibia and Zambia registered for this championship.
