
Seven countries sealed their places at the FIBA AfroBasket 2025 on Matchday 4 of the Qualifiers played on Friday.
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and South Sudan qualified from Group A following their wins against Mali and Morocco respectively.
DRC came from down to beat Mali 65-59 at Salle IBN Yassine in Rabat, Morocco. The Congolese held Malians to just 11 points in the fourth quarter while scoring 27 taking their record to 4-0. Rolly Fulla Nganga (16 points), Christian Lutete IV (13) and Jordan Sakho led the way for DRC.

Meanwhile, the continent’s best team, South Sudan, beat Morocco 69-37 in a game hosts were held to just 11 second-half points. Lual Acuil was the star of the show, netting 21 points to go with 9 boards and 2 steals. Peter Jok (11 points) also scored in double figures.
In Group C, Senegal and Cameroon advanced to the final tournament following wins against Rwanda and Gabon respectively.
Cameroon had five players score in double figures en route to the 82-65 win over Gabon to take their record to 3-1. Jeremiah Hill (14), Paul Eboua (12), Philibert Ateba (11), Williams Narace (10) and Charles Minlend Jr (10) all scored in double digits.

Meanwhile, Senegal (4-0) proved they were head and shoulders above everyone else in the group with a 96-73 win over Rwanda. Jean-Jacques Boissy played his best game of the qualifiers thus far as he recorded a game-high 19 points and dished out 6 helpers. The guard was complemented by Babacar Sane (17 points), Ousmane Ndiaye (12), Youssou Ndoye (12) and Karim Mane (10).
Rwanda (1-3) were led by Robeyns who scored an efficient 18 points and Ntore Habimana had 12. Rwanda needs to win against Gabon on Sunday to seal their qualification but a ticket can be secured today if they beat Cameroon.

From Group D, Ivory Coast and Egypt qualified following wins against Madagascar and the Central Africa Republic respectively at Palais des Sports Mahamasina in Antananarivo.
Ivory Coast overwhelmed the hosts 109-73 thanks to a team effort that saw all Ivorians but one (Solo Diabate) score at least a point led by Matt Costello with 20. Jean Dally (17), Lionel Kouadio (14) and Nisre Zouzoua (11) also scored in double digits.
In the other Group D game, Egypt held off a late charge from the Central African Republic to win 75-71. Ehab Amin (14), Yusuf Shehata (11) and Omar Oraby (10) led Egypt’s team effort while Dandre Washington had a game-high 21 points and 7 assists in a losing effort. Evan Ganapamo (17) and Allan Dakosi (11) also scored in double figures for CAR.
