Having started the day one shot ahead, Kruyswijk was overtaken by Parry within five holes, but back-to-back birdies on Nos. 6 and 7 saw him regain the lead.

“I’m happy that I can keep the trophy on African soil and obviously bring it back to South Africa,” Kruyswijk said.

Kruyswijk earned $425,000 (at least Ug.Shs 1.5 billion) for the hard toiled effort and sweat.

He also got 585 Race to Dubai points as a DP World Tour member, with its season-long Race to Dubai points race starting up again, earning 21.5 Official World Golf Ranking points.

Second placed John Parry earned $275,000 (at least Ug.Shs 1 billion).

The other top ten golfers were Deon Germishuys (South Africa), Jayden Schaper (South Africa), De Leo Gregorio (Italy), Rutherford Jamie (England), Saddier Adrien (France), Jin Zihao (China), Berry Joshua (England) and Freddy Schott (Germany).

No East African players made the cut after two rounds (36 holes).

Uganda was represented by Willy Deus Kitata (professional) and Joseph Cwinya-ai.

Uganda national team captain Joseph Cwiny-ai finished the second round in the 147th position with 81 and 80 gross scores (+19).

“There are plenty of lessons to take home from this DP Tour Championship. I am humbled to have played it and will reflect upon every opportunity to improve upon my game going forward” Cwinyaa-ai remarked.

US based professional Willy Deus Kitata retired the second round prematurely.

Kitata who had played 6-over-77 during round one did not complete the second round.

The defending champion Darius van Driel also failed to progress to the final two rounds.

Meanwhile, The 2025 DP World Tour schedule continues next week with the Investec South African Open Championship, co-sanctioned with the Sunshine Tour.
