Crystal Palace head into tonight’s clash with Aston Villa as favourites for victory after an impressive 2-0 win at Fulham in a London derby on Saturday afternoon left them with just two defeats in their last 11 matches, six wins in their last eight and three wins in their last four in all competitions.
Victory for Oliver Glasner’s side keeps them in 13th place in the Premier League table but now leaves them just six points off the top 10.
Interestingly though, the Eagles tend to struggle considerably more when playing in front of their home fans, picking up exactly two thirds of their Premier League points this season when playing away from home, which includes defeats in each of their last two games at Selhurst Park.
Aston Villa will head to the capital on confident mood tonight after earning a 2-1 win over Champions League chasing Chelsea on Saturday evening, to extend their unbeaten run to four matches and now with just one defeat in their last nine Premier League matches.
The weekend’s victory leaves Unai Emery’s side eighth in the Premier League table but only two points behind the top four, albeit having played a game more than all of the teams around them.
The West Midlands side have struggled away from home this season though, losing eight of their last 11 matches on the road in all competitions, dating back to October, and have lost their last two matches on their travels without scoring.
Palace are unbeaten in their last three games against the Villans, who lost 5-0 on their last trip to Selhurst Park on the final day of last season.
