We have reached the halfway point of the regular season of the 2025 men’s Uganda Rugby Premiership. Six matches played by the participating teams, five to go.

As it stands, unbeaten Jinja Hippos are on top of the table while winless Elgon Wolves are at the bottom.

Compared to the 2024 regular season at this point, it is difficult to determine whether the competition has become tighter or teams have eased their foot off the gas. Hippos, the current leader with twenty-six points, would be in third place and Rams, who were at the bottom with five points, would be two places higher.

The non-surprising bit in the standings is that only one team which was in the Championship Playoffs last season is not among the top eight at the moment. Freshly promoted Elgon Wolves have struggled for form and are yet to earn their first point.

The surprising bit; last season’s undefeated table-toppers Heathens are out of the top four with two defeats. Freshly promoted Victoria Sharks have pulled some punches and are out of the Relegation Playoffs places.

There is still quite a great deal of rugby to play and the fixture sheet has interesting matchups. Let’s keep one eye on the table.
