Manchester City got back to winning ways in midweek with a 1-0 win at Tottenham after what proved to be troubling few days last week with defeats to Real Madrid and Liverpool, the former seeing them knockout of the Champions League before the last 16 stage for the first time in 12 years.

The FA Cup now acts as the only realistic possibility for Pep Guardiola’s side to win a trophy this season, with the four-time defending Premier League champions sat down in fourth in the table this time around, 20 points behind the league leaders Liverpool.

The Citizens have lost four of their last seven matches in all competitions but have won five of their last seven matches on their home patch, their only winless games in that run coming against Real Madrid and Liverpool, probably the two best teams in world football right now.

Plymouth make the long trip to the north west of England still joyous from having knocked runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool out of the cup in the last round, securing a memorable 1-0 win over Arne Slot’s side in a game which will go down as an FA Cup classic.

Miron Muslic’s side have lost only one seven matches in all competitions, which includes games against Liverpool and three of the Championship’s top five teams.

The Pilgrims do make the trip to Manchester without a win in their last three games though following consecutive 1-1 draws against Luton and Cardiff in their last two outings, which leaves them just three points from safety having been rock bottom of the division when Muslic took over.

The Devon side do have the worst record away from home in the Championship this season though, winless in all of their 17 league games on the road, though oddly enough they did manage to win at Brentford in round three of this year’s FA Cup, back when the Bees had the best home record in the Premier League.

Saturday’s meeting will be the first between the two sides since a second division game at Maine Road back in 1989, with City winning each of their last five games against the Devonshire side, who haven’t won an away game against the Citizens since before World War II.
