Crystal Palace v Millwall prediction

Crystal Palace head into Saturday lunchtime’s London derby fresh off the back of a stonking 4-1 win over Europe-chasing Aston Villa in the Premier League on Tuesday night to give them a fourth victory in their last five games ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup fifth round tie.

Oliver Glasner’s side have now won seven of their last nine matches after a slow start to the campaign, with their midweek win lifting them up to 12th in the Premier League table.

The Eagles have struggled at home slightly this season, picking up more points on their travels than on their home patch, including defeats in their last two matches at Selhurst Park prior to this week.

Millwall make the trip across London with only one defeat in their last nine matches in all competitions and with five wins in their last eight matches as the club seek a late push for the play offs in a bid to play top flight football next season for the first time since 1990.

Alex Neil’s side got back to winning ways last weekend after three games without victory with a 1-0 triumph at Derby, taking the Lions into the top half of the table into 12th place and now only six points off the play offs.

The east London side have had a good time on the road since the Scot took over to replace Neil Harris, losing just one of his seven games on the road and winning four, including his most recent.

The two sides met at the third round stage of the FA Cup three years ago, with the Eagles coming from behind to triumph 2-1 at the Den.

Palace head into Saturday’s tie as strong odds on favourites to book their place in the quarter finals – with their current good form leading me to believe a 2-0 home win is most likely.

Crystal Palace v Millwall betting tips

Jean-Philippe Mateta seems to be back to his goal scoring best having bagged eight goals in his last eight Premier League games and will fancy his chances to making an early impact on Saturday’s derby against Championship opposition.

The Eagles’ run of seven wins in their last nine games, including four in their last five leaves them strong favourites to secure a comfortable home win against their mid-table second tier opponents.
