Harry Kane would ‘love’ Eric Dier to remain at Bayern Munich beyond the summer, but this looks unlikely to happen.

Dier initially joined the Bundesliga leaders on loan from Tottenham in January 2024 before the move became permanent swiftly after.

However, the 31-year-old has made just eight starts across all competitions this season and his Bayern contract expires in June.

Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae have been the preferred options to play at centre-back under Vincent Kompany.

Speaking last month via the Daily Mail, Kane revealed his desire for Dier to stay, saying: “Eric’s been great, he’s been waiting patiently.

“Obviously [Upamecano] and Min-jae have been fantastic this season, so Eric’s just had to bide his time.

“He’s come in the last couple of games and done really, really well, and got two clean sheets so yeah, of course I’d love Eric to stay. I guess that’s between him and the club.

“I haven’t had any conversations with him, so we’ll have to see. He did really well when he played. Eric and I get on very well. But we haven’t talked about his future. That’s a matter between him and the club.”

“Me and Eric are really good friends and it’s good to see him on the pitch,” Kane also said as per @iMiaSanMia on X. “He’s not played a lot this season but whenever he’s come in he’s done really well.

“Eric was rock solid again [against Freiburg]. I’m delighted for him that he picked up an assist and it was nice that it fell to me.”

Unfortunately for Kane, his wish appears unlikely to come true as Sky Sport Germany have reported that Dier’s Bayern future is uncertain.

The defender wants to stay, but the club haven’t yet agreed to extending his contract and it currently looks as though he will leave.

Kane and Dier have made 390 appearances together for six different sides during their careers.

The duo played alongside each other at Tottenham on 309 occasions, whilst they have shared the pitch for England 37 times.

A total of 30 joint appearances have come at Bayern, and this season could well be their last together.

However, it could end with silverware as Bayern are eight points clear at the top of the Bundesliga and in the Champions League last 16.
