Tuesday football betting tips

Bet of the day

  • PSV to beat Arsenal @ 13/5

Arsenal’s Premier League title aspirations have faded over the last couple of weeks and the Gunners could now be in for European disappointment when they head to the Netherlands to face PSV in the first leg of their last-16 tie.

Mikel Arteta’s side have been flat in the final third and have failed to score in three of their last four assignments, being blanked by Newcastle in the EFL Cup and by West Ham and Nottingham Forest in the league.

Injuries have played their part in the poor attacking performances of the Gunners and they could be given a rough ride by PSV, who have won their last four Champions League games at home.

The Dutch giants knocked Juventus out in the play-off round and they also handed Liverpool their sole defeat in the League Phase, evidence of how strong Peter Bosz’s troops are at the Philips Stadion.

Special of the day

  • Burnley, Reading and Bradford City to win @ 19/4

Although being dumped out of the FA Cup on Saturday, Burnley won’t be too disheartened about that result with their main focus this season being on earning promotion to the Premier League.

The Clarets are on a 21-game unbeaten streak in the league and they haven’t conceded a goal in the Championship in their last 12 matches, evidence of their sensational defensive record.

Burnley’s defensive resolve can see them overcome a Cardiff City side who have struggled for consistency and are just two places above the bottom three.

In League One, Reading are within striking distance of the play-off positions after stringing together a six-game unbeaten run and they can get the better of Exeter City, who have won just one of their last six away fixtures in the league.

Rounding off this treble is the League Two clash between second-placed Bradford City and 12th-placed Cheltenham Town at Valley Parade.

The Bantams have won their last three games, beating MK Dons, Bromley and Salford City, while they are on a nine-match winning streak at home and haven’t conceded at Valley Parade since January 4th.

Visitors Cheltenham have been poor on their travels, winning just one of their last 10 away assignments in all competitions and they may struggle again here.

Long shot of the day

  • Plymouth to beat Hull and both teams to score @ 19/2

A crucial relegation clash takes place at the MKM Stadium on Tuesday when 21st-placed Hull host a Plymouth side two places and three points worse off than them.

The Tigers have failed to win any of their last six games at home and have secured just one win in their last 14 assignments at the MKM Stadium.

Argyle haven’t won away from home in the Championship this season, but they have drawn three of their last four road matches in the league – against Stoke, Sunderland and Luton – and could clinch a huge three points here.

With both sides struggling at the back, there should be goals at both ends with the Pilgrims possibly having enough to edge out their hosts.
