Kitara FC handed newly promoted outfit Lugazi FC a rude welcome as the two faced off on Saturday at Lugazi Stadium in Najjembe, Mabira Forest.
The Royals were ruthless against the new entrants who were playing their first ever top flight League game.
Jude Ssemugabi fresh from scoring for Uganda Cranes against Congo on his debut early this week was the chief orchestrator for the damage on Lugazi FC.
The lanky forward bagged a brace to compliment Frank ‘Zaka’ Tumwesigye’s opening goal thus lead the visitors to a 3-0 win.
The hosts ended the game with a player less after defenders Rogers Atube who was making his debut got marching orders in the second half for a second bookable offence.
From the beginning, Kitara looked the better side and thought has taken the lead through Denis Omedi in the 11th minute but his acrobatic finish was ruled out for offside.
It was Tumwesigye who eventually opened the scores with a powerful left footed strike into the roof of the net in the 24th minute.
Three minutes before the break, Ssemugabi doubled the advantage for Kitara, playing a one-two with Omedi who eventually set him up to finish from close range.
In the second half, Atube was sent off for a second bookable offence and the difference in numbers was evident.
Ssemugabi got his second on the day and third for Kitara in the 64th minute, chesting the ball down before firing it home to put the icing on the cake.
Victory takes Kitara FC into an early lead on the table given the number of goals scored.
Kitara will return to action on Thursday at home to Maroons FC while Lugazi will visit UPDF FC on the same day.
