
Former Vipers SC midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga has completed a move to Oakland Roots SC from Austin II.
Oakland Roots SC, a second-division club competing in the USL Championship in the United States, announced the transfer on Monday, March 3, 2025, via their social media platforms.
“Oakland Roots announces the addition of 23-year-old Ugandan international Bobosi Byaruhanga,” the statement partly read.
Byaruhanga played a key role in Austin II’s success, helping them secure the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro title. He made 26 appearances, scoring one goal and providing three assists.
Byaruhanga’s initial move to Europe saw him join Czech Republic side MFK Vyskov in January 2023 before he was loaned to Austin II.
A brief about Oakland Roots SC
Oakland Roots SC was founded in 2018. It initially competed in the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) before joining the USL Championship in 2021.
