Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium, Wakiso 3pm
Steven Bengo’s coaching tenure starts on Sunday with a challenge against neighbours Soltilo Bright Stars at the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium, Wakissha.
The former exciting attacking midfielder took over the reigns from John Luyinda who left at the end of last season and literally has a new look squad at his disposal.
Speaking ahead of the season, Bengo is happy with the trust from the management of the club and wants the team which spent most of last season fighting relegation to be more competitive.
“I want to thank the management of Wakiso Giants for the trust in us,” started Bengo, an ex-player at SC Villa, URA and Wakiso Giants. “It was a tough last season but we want to be among the competitors this season. We don’t want to be in the same position we were in last season,” he added.
On Sunday, the gaffer will hope Captain Hassan Ssenyonjo, the returning Lawrence Bukenya as well as fit again Alex Komakech guides the new lads David Bagoole, James Alitho and Hudson Mbalire among others.
The visitors who have midfield gem Marvin Youngman back in the team will rely on the attacking duo of Shafik Kakande and Nelson Ssenkatuka for the desired goals as they look to start the campaign on a decent note.
