NEC and Vipers face off in a highly anticipated clash at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo in their league opener with each seeking a winning start to the 2024/25 season.
The two locked horns in the Fufa Super 8 with the Venoms just edging the contest over two legs.
Last season, Vipers’ title charge was literally ended by Hussein Mbalangu’s men in a goalless draw at the same venue which adds another dimension to the fixture with the Venoms seeking vengeance.
Mbalangu is aware this season will be tough as no team will undermine them which makes the games even tougher.
“Last season, many teams undermined us but after our performance means the opponents will come more prepared,” said Mbalangu.
However, the gaffer is confident of better results this season after addressing some of the issues they faced last campaign.
“We lacked depth and quality last season but we have ironed that area especially with experience.”
Paul Mucureezi, Muzamir Mutyaba, Cromwell Rwothomio, Allan Mugalu and company will be vital for the hosts who finished 6th last season.
For Vipers under new coach Nikola Kavazovic, they will be targeting a good start with on form Allan Okello and youngster Kenneth Kimera leading his attack.
