Hamz stadium, Nakivubo 7pm

For the first since February 27, 2017, a Uganda Premier League match will be played at Nakivubo stadium when Express host Mbale Heroes on Monday.

The historical venue last hosted SC Villa versus Sadolin Paints, a fixture the Jogoos edged 1-0 courtesy of Emmanuel Okwi exquisite free kick.

Coming into the game, seven-time champions Express are confident their new look squad will be competitive after going through a tough spell last campaign.

“We have assembled a very good squad that we believe will compete well this season,” Baker Mbowa, the Red Eagles coach told the media. “It is a new look side with youth but we also got some experienced players that we believe are good,” he added.

True to Mbowa’s words, Express have in their armory veteran Said Kyeyune, new skipper Emmanuel Wasswa who returned on a permanent basis after spending half of last season on loan from KCCA, left back Mustafa Kizza from the Kasasiro as well.

Against Mbale Heroes who return to the top flight after more than a decade in the lower leagues, the hosts will be clear favourites and anything less than 3 points will be deemed a poor result.
