Brentford v Aston Villa prediction

Brentford head into Saturday’s game as slight favourites, with a win for the Bees putting them just one point behind their opponents in 10th with a game in hand.

After winning seven of their first eight home league games this season, Brentford are now without a win in their six games at the gtech community stadium since. The latest a 1-1 draw to Everton where they went 1-0 up thanks to a goal from Yoane Wissa just before the half before Jake O’Brien rescued a point for the visitors with 13 minutes to go.

Unai Emery’s men come into the game full of confidence as their 3-1 win against Club Brugge on Tuesday evening has them within reaching distance of a Champions League quarter-final.

However, their league form is a slight cause for concern. The Villains have only won one of their last seven league games including an emphatic 4-1 loss to Crystal Palace last time out.

Brentford are without a win in their previous five attempts against Aston Villa, though Villa’s three trips to the Gtech Community stadium has only seen them take away all three points on one occasion.

The most recent fixture between the two saw Villa score three in the space of 12 first half minutes thanks to goals from Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins and Matty Cash, with Brentford only able to pull one back through Mikkel Damsgaard.

Brentford’s poor home form has coincided with a difficult run of fixtures. They’ve come up against the current top four, Tottenham and an in-form Everton side, and against an Aston Villa side that, outside of the bottom four teams, boasts the worst away record in the League, I think a 3-2 win for the Bees is a result to get behind.

Brentford v Aston Villa betting tips

Only six players have scored more goals than Brentford’s Yoane Wissa in the league this season. The forward has also scored the opening goal in his last two games in a team notorious for their fast starts.

Marco Asensio has been a revelation since his January move to Aston Villa on loan from PSG. The winger has scored five goals in his last four games and now looks to be the teams penalty taker following his strike mid-week.
