Ireland head into Round 4 of the 2025 Six Nations sitting pretty at the top of the table after three wins from their opening three matches, keeping alive their hopes of becoming the first side since the France side of the late 1990s to win consecutive Grand Slams.
With usual head coach Andy Farrell in Lions duty ahead of their summer, Simon Easterby has taken charge of the Irish side on a temporary basis and has, so far, passed the test with flying colours, securing the Triple Crown in his opening three games.
The Irish hold a three point lead at the top of the table ahead of Saturday’s showdown in the capital, and could become the first team since the France side of the late 1980s to win three consecutive titles this weekend with a win, provided Italy win at Twickenham.
France will be leapfrog their opponents into top spot this weekend with victory in Dublin, something they’ve only done once in the last 14 years.
Fabian Galthie’s side emphatic 74-23 win in Rome in their last outing, combined with their 43-0 victory over Wales on opening night gives them an extremely healthy points difference, which could prove decisive if they win on Saturday, which would force a likely three-horse race in the final weekend to decide the champions.
Saturday’s bout in Dublin is a must win for Les Bleus as they seek just a second Six Nations title since 2010, with the knowledge they have a winnable home game against Scotland in next week’s finale, to aid their points far superior points difference.
France have won three of their last five matches against Ireland, though Saturday’s hosts have won each of the last two games between the sides.
