Crystal Palace v Ipswich Town prediction
Ipswich have had a torrid time in their return to the Premier League this season. The Tractor boys currently sit in 17th, five points off of safety and without a win in their previous eight League fixtures, losing six.
The last of which a 3-2 defeat to a struggling Manchester United team down to 10 men following Patrick Dorgu’s red card in the 43rd minute.
Whereas their opponents, Crystal Palace, go into the game in incredible form. The Eagles have won nine of their last 12 games in all competitions, and six of their last nine in the Premier League. One positive Ipswich can hang on to however, is that the three occasions Palace have failed to win have all been while playing at Selhurst Park.
A win for Palace moves them into 11th, at least until Brentford’s game against Aston Villa later that evening, and within reaching distance of a European spot.
When the two sides met earlier in the season, it was Palace who came out victorious. A goal from Jean-Philippe Mateta the difference, however they will be without their top scorer this time, as Saturday is expected to come too soon for the forward following Millwall Goalkeeper Liam Roberts horror challenge in their FA cup clash last weekend.
Crystal Palace should fancy themselves in their current form, even without their top scorer and a suspended Will Hughes, against a Town side that have conceded 20 goals in their last six Premier League fixtures. I can see a comfortable 3-1 win as the most likely result.
Crystal Palace v Ipswich Town betting tips
Eddie Nketiah’s Crystal Palace career hasn’t started as he would have hoped. The England forward had not scored in his first 18 attempts in the Premier League.
However, Nketiah is expected to start on the weekend due to Matetas injury, and with two goals in his last two games the Palace striker may have finally found his feet.
