Alexander-Arnold cut a devastated figure on the turf as he pulled his shirt over his head while being treated by Liverpoold’s medical staff.

The right-back eventually got back to his feet but could only limp as he took over four minutes to exit the field and head down the tunnel at Anfield.

He was replaced by Jarrell Quansah.

The timing of Alexander-Arnold’s injury comes with Liverpool due to play Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, live on talkSPORT.

Alexander-Arnold’s exit from the field came with Liverpool’s Champions League tie against PSG hanging in the balance after the visitors equalised on aggregate via Ousmane Dembele.

The French winger struck in the 12th minute to give the visitors a 1-0 lead on the night.

The former Barcelona man slipped a pass out wide to Bradley Barcola, who waited for Dembele to arrive in the box before rolling the ball in his path.

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate attempted to cut out the cross but only managed to take it past goalkeeper Alisson, allowing Dembele to tap home from close range.
