Former three-weight world champion ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley is gearing up for a return to the ring following an eight-year hiatus.
The boxing icon will headline a Celebrity Boxing event on September 28 at Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino and Racetrack in Chester, United States.
Mosley is a bonafide boxing legend and has shared the ring with several greats including MayweatherGetty
Mosley, 53, will take on Bob Kofroth in a light-heavyweight bout, supported by a super-middleweight scrap between Kimbo Slice‘s son, Kimbo Slice Jr, and Drew Mournet.
Kofroth is a full-contact karate fighter and won the NASKA light heavyweight title in 2018.
Meanwhile, he also boxed as an amateur and reached two Golden Gloves finals.
Mosley hung up his gloves in 2016 following a unanimous decision loss to David Avanesyan.
During an illustrious career stretching back to 1993, Mosley won world titles at lightweight, welterweight and super welterweight.
He was also a lineal champion at welterweight (twice) and super-welterweight.
Along the way, he shared the ring with several current and future Hall of Famers including Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao and Canelo Alvarez.
He lost to the aforementioned trio via unanimous decision, but also recorded impressive victories over the likes of Oscar De La Hoya (twice), Antonio Margarito, Ricardo Mayorga and Fernando Vargas (twice).
Mosley’s exhibition bout with Kofroth won’t be his first splash in the crossover boxing sphere.
Outside of the paid ranks, Mosley also famously duked it out with NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.

Both men exchanged leather during a 2010 taping of O’Neal’s ABC show, ‘Shaq Vs.’
The programme’s premise was simple: O’Neal challenged other athletes at their own sport.
And if he won, which he rarely did, he would have the ultimate bragging rights over his foe.
Luckily for Mosley, he overcame the staggering size disparity between the pair to win a decision.
O’Neal stands 7ft 1in tall and weighs 325lbs while Mosley is 5ft 9in and was around 160lbs at the time.
Yet the riley veteran eeked out the five-round contest on the scorecards while boxing with his back against the ropes.
