Grand National 2025: Runners and riders

Up until two years ago, 40 horses were permitted to run in the Grand National but that has dropped down to 34.

That is the maximum amount for the race, so there will potentially be less than that running.

We are yet to see the runners and riders announced for the race despite the list of entries available to see.

Last year’s winner I Am Maximus will run again, while Cheltenham winner Stumptown and Inothewayurthinkin are set to be contenders for glory this time around.

Five-day confirmations will come in on March 31 before declarations and final fields are planned to be confirmed on April 3.

“The Grand National in three weeks time,” he said on March 12.

On Stumptown’s performance in the Cross Country chase, Dillon added: “It’s unbelievable, unbelievable, lost for words.

“We knew he would stay up the hill. He loves Cheltenham and we brought him over here so many times and he has such a great record around here. He just loves those fences.”
