Both teams left the pitch and returned to the dressing room while the situation was dealt with by medical staff.

Posting on X at 16:41, Wycombe Wanderers wrote: “Play has been temporarily suspended due to a medical incident in the away end. We will provide updates once available.”

According to local reporters, fans vacated the area and stewards used Wycombe flags as a barrier to protect the fan’s privacy.

Around 30 minutes later, the supporter in question was seen leaving the stadium on a stretcher, and players emerged from the tunnel shortly afterwards.

Tweeting at 17:08, Wycombe Wanderers said: “The medical incident has been resolved and the supporter is on the way to hospital with our very best wishes.

“Play will resume with the clock at 76:25 after both sets of players are given 10 minutes to warm up.

“Thank you to everyone for their patience and understanding.”

‘The Wycombe Way’ – a fan account reporting from Adams Park – said: “This is a worrying situation, and we wish them well.”

Played resumed at 17:22 with the game at 0-0 heading into the final 15 minutes.

It didn’t stay goalless for long however, with Wrexham’s Sam Smith scoring the opening goal in the 78th minute.

The game was a tight contest for the League One table, with Wycombe in second and Wrexham in third with both tied on 68 points.

A victory for Wrexham would see them leapfrog their opponents into second place.

Whilst Wycombe have a game in hand, they will be unlikely to catch title challengers Birmingham City, who are on 83 points to sit 15 points clear.

Mike Dodds’ side have been in strong form in League One, with Richard Kone leading the Golden Boot charge on 17 goals.

Birmingham City’s Jay Stansfield – who the side bought for a league record fee of £15million from Premier League side Fulham – is close behind on 16 goals.

Wrexham on the other hand are challenging for a third promotion in as many seasons.

Having won the National League title in 2022-23, they returned to the Football League after 15 years and went onto win League Two.

Should they secure promotion this season, they will be promoted to the Championship for the 2025-26 campaign.
