Ipswich v Wolves prediction

Wolves make the trip to Suffolk on Saturday as marginal favourites having strung together back-to-back victories in their last two games, leaving the gap between themselves in 17th and the relegation zone now at nine points.

Vitor Pereira’s side’s 1-0 win over West Ham on Tuesday night means they’ve now picked up seven points from their last three matches following their defeat at home against Fulham last month.

The West Midlands side make the trip to Suffolk looking for a third consecutive league win away from home following wins on the south coast over Bournemouth and Southampton in recent weeks, their first time winning successive away games in the league all season.

Ipswich ended a 10 match winless run on Wednesday night with a surprise 2-1 win at Bournemouth having lost each of their previous five matches.

Unfortunately for Kieran McKenna’s side, Wolves also won in midweek leaving the Tractor Boys still nine points from safety with only eight games of the season remaining, leaving Saturday’s game at Portman Road a huge six pointer in the battle to avoid relegation.

No team have won fewer games at home in the Premier League this season than Ipswich, who have only one victory from their 15 matches at Portman Road, though only Leicester and Southampton have been beaten on more occasions away from home than Wolves this season.

Ipswich have won their last games against Wolves having won at Molineux earlier in the season, but their torrid home record combined with Wolves’ strong run of form in recent weeks leads to believe a 2-1 away win is in store on Saturday afternoon.

Wolves have won back to back league games away from home for the first time this season and will fancy themselves at making it a hat trick against an Ipswich side with a dismal home record of just one win in 15.

Liam Delap’s goal on Wednesday night in the Tractor Boys’ surprise win at Bournemouth makes him the top scorer for either side available for selection on Saturday with 11 goals.

Only Sasa Lukic has a worse disciplinary record in the Premier League this season than Wolves’ Joao Gomes who has eight yellow cards and a red to his name.
