An incredible solo goal from former Manchester United man Anthony Elanga saw United fall to their 13th defeat of the season against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday. The Swedish winger picked up the ball from just outside his own area and took it the length of the pitch before coolly finishing past Andre Onana just five minutes in.

The loss was United’s first in five league games but means that they remain in 13th, 14 points behind their Manchester rivals despite the Citizens disappointing season.

Manchester United are without some key defensive players, Ayden Heaven is still a couple weeks away from a return following his injury picked up against Leicester City before the international break, with Lisandro Martinez and Jonny Evans remaining long term absentees. However Luke Shaw could return to the matchday squad, though the left back has only featured twice this season so United will be cautious rushing him back too soon.

Manchester City travel across the city following a comfortable 2-0 win against relegation candidates Leicester City. Jack Grealish opened the scoring with his first goal of the season inside the first two minutes before Omar Marmoush followed it up with his third goal in as many games to double The Citizens on the half hour mark.

The win means that City remain fifth in the Premier League, the final spot for Champions League qualification next season, though only four points separate themselves from eighth placed Brighton.

Similarly to their Manchester rivals, Pep Guardiola’s side have many injuries to cope with themselves. Top goalscorer Erling Haaland remains out for the foreseeable future as is Rodri, Nathan Ake, John Stones and Manuel Akanji. Though the return of 21-year-old Oscar Bobb in the final five minutes of their game against Leicester, was a welcome sight. The young Norwegian suffered a broken leg and had not featured this season before the short cameo midweek.

The Citizens have come out victorious in seven of the last 10 meetings against their Manchester rivals, though they were on the losing end when the two met in the reverse fixture in December. A goal from Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol 36 minutes in looked like it was enough to take all three points, but two goals in the final two minutes from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo quickly turned the game on its head to give Ruben Amorim’s men the victory.
