Canelo Alvarez is preparing for a busy 2025 – and his opponents will be in for a tough night as shown in a resurfaced POV training video of him smashing the pads.

The Mexican superstar returns to the ring on May 3 against William Scull in an undisputed super middleweight clash.

Canelo is set to square off against Crawford in September

Canelo chose to face Edgar Berlanga last September rather than IBF mandatory Scull, leading to him been stripped of his title.

Scull picked up the strap by winning a vacant world title fight against Vladimir Shishkin last October.

And he will now place it on the line against WBA, WBC and WBO champion Canelo, who has his sights set on becoming a two-time four-belt holder.

Undisputed supremacy isn’t the only thing on the line for Canelo, though.

The former pound-for-pound king also has a super fight with Terence Crawford resting on him beating Scull.

Canelo vs Crawford is being targeted for September, meaning the 34-year-old won’t have much time to enjoy himself before jumping back into camp again.

But you can be sure he will leave no stone unturned in his training preparations.

In a 2024 video that is doing the rounds once again on social media, his opponents were given a first-person look at how menacing he can be in the ring.

His trainer Eddy Reynoso filmed a pads sessions with Canelo, where his lightning quick reflexes and brutal power punches were on show.

Fans were left in awe, as one X user wrote: “Pray for Crawford because King Saul gonna make him crawl.”

Another posted: “Canelo is looking sharp.”

A third added: “Hands like sledgehammers.”

Meanwhile, somebody else remarked: “Feel for Eddy Reynoso, those punches look hard.”

‘Bud’ recently moved up super welterweight after achieving undisputed supremacy at super lightweight and welterweight.

Against Canelo, he will jump two further weight classes to his rival’s natural home of super middleweight.

It is often the case that when two fighters from different divisions sign to fight each other, a rehydration clause is added to the deal to level the playing field.

The contractual agreement limits how much weight a fighter can gain between the weigh-in and the start of a fight through a second-day weigh-in check.

Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr, for example, have a 10lbs rehydration clause inserted into their middleweight bout on April 26.

However, there will be no such agreement between Canelo and Crawford.
