Davidovich Fokina has continued his impressive start to 2025 after a journey to the fourth round of the Australian Open.

However, his latest victory appeared incredibly tough to achieve as he delivered an honest assessment of the performance against Draper.

“I’m very emotional,” he said. “Very sorry for the way I behaved on court and the way I couldn’t control my emotions.

“I have to respect myself and my team. Today was tough.”

Davidovich Fokina also reportedly said: “Today was a rollercoaster with my mind.

“I was playing better tennis but my mind was saying me a lot of bull***t.”

Davidovich Fokina and Draper battled for around two hours and 47 minutes on Court Rainier III.

The eventual champion has now risen to tenth in the live ATP Race to Turin rankings with 1,010 points.

He has now reached his fifth Masters quarter-final, with the latest one being his third in Monte-Carlo.

Davidovich Fokina, who lost in the 2022 final against Stefanos Tsitsipas, will meet the winner of Alexei Popyrin versus Casper Ruud.
