Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will clash in the second Der Klassiker of the season at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.

Both teams will be looking to put disappointing midweek defeats in the Champions League behind them.

Bayern lost 2-1 at home to Inter on Tuesday and Dortmund fared even worse, they were hammered 4-0 by Barcelona on Wednesday.

Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund predictions

Bayern Munich suffered a huge setback in midweek when they lost 2-1 at home to Inter Milan in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

The Bavarians had the better of the play with 59 percent of the possession and they also managed 20 attempts on goal to Inter’s ten.

Vincent Kompany’s team will still believe they can go to Italy and win, but they will have their work cut out against one of the stronger defences in the Champions League.

The match was typical of Bayern’s season under Kompany. They have dominated in the Bundesliga, but still look to be missing something in Europe.

This isn’t just a theory, it is backed up by statistics. Bayern have lost just 2 of 28 matches in the Bundesliga. They have lost four of their 13 matches in the Champions League.

Attention now turns back to the league, where they face Dortmund in Der Klassiker.

Bayern have won only two of their last four in the league. They can’t afford to get distracted again this weekend against their underperforming rivals.

Kompany’s team sit top of the table with 68 points from 28 matches. They hold a six-point lead over champions Leverkusen, but that lead has been cut from eight in recent weeks.

Leverkusen kicks off at 2.30, three hours before Munich. So by the time Bayern play, that lead may well sit at just three points.

Dortmund had an even worse midweek experience in Europe than Bayern did.

Munich are still in their quarter-final tie, Dortmund most certainly aren’t. BVB lost 4-0 away to Barcelona on Wednesday, and although they still have the home leg to come, nobody is really giving them any chance of progressing.

Up until the Barcelona thrashing, BVB had performed well in Europe, reaching the last eight of the Champions League.

While their Bundesliga form is in direct contrast. They sit eighth in the table with 41 points from 28 matches.

The Black and Yellows have spent most of the last few weeks in the bottom half of the division.

But back-to-back wins over Mainz (3-1) and Frieburg (4-1) has seen BVB get themselves back in contention for a finish in the top six and the chance to play European football again next season.

The honours were shared in the first Der Klassiker of the season at Signal Iduna Park. Dortmund took the lead through Jamie Gittens after 27 minutes, but Bayern weren’t to be denied, with Jamal Musiala equalising on 85 minutes. Our match betting tips for the Matchday 29 showdown are below:

Bayern to win and BTTS

Both teams need the three points for different reasons. Bayern is trying to maintain their six-point lead at the top, Dortmund need the points in their late push for a finish in the European places.

Bayern is just 2/5 to win in the 90 minutes market. Even if Bayern is forced to rotate their squad, we feel they will have too much for BVB.

As for the Black and Yellows, might they just write the second leg off against Barcelona and go all out for the three points against Bayern?

Either way, we still see Bayern winning. And with Dortmund scoring seven in their last two Bundesliga matches, a bet on Bayern to win and both teams to score looks the way to go.

⚽ Tip – Back a win for Bayern and yes in both teams to score at 7/5 with Betfred ⚽

Michael Olise to score or assist

Michael Olise is having an outstanding debut season in Munich.

The London-born Frenchman has scored eight goals and provided 13 assists in 28 Bundesliga matches and has scored five goals and provided two assists in 13 Champions League appearances.

Kompany is likely to rotate, but Olise has played a role in all 28 Bundesliga matches this season, starting 22 and coming off the bench in the other six. The former Crystal Palace winger is now an integral part of the team and should feature against Dortmund.

Furthermore, Olise has provided three assists in his previous two Bundesliga matches, two in the 3-2 win over St. Pauli and one in the 3-1 win over Augsburg.

⚽ Tip – Back Michael Olise to score or assist at 4/5 with NetBet ⚽

Thomas Muller to score anytime

He’s been making plenty of headlines in recent days and in true Thomas Muller style he emerged from the bench to score for Bayern in the first leg of their 2-1 Champions League defeat against Inter.

With the second leg in mind, Vincent Kompany may well hand Muller a start against Dortmund, and wouldn’t it be just like the veteran striker to grab himself more headlines by getting on the scoresheet again.

⚽ Tip – Back Thomas Muller to score anytime at 11/5 with Grosvenor ⚽
