Hull v Coventry prediction

Coventry head to Yorkshire for tonight’s game looking to climb into the top five in the Championship table and extend the gap between themselves and the chasing pack in the hunt for the play-off positions.

Frank Lampard’s side got back to winning ways on Wednesday night having lost three of their previous four matches which saw them drop back out of the top six after they’d worked so hard to get into them, winning nine out of their 10 games prior.

The weekend’s other results in the second tier leaves the Sky Blues sixth in the table ahead of tonight’s game, two points clear of West Brom in seventh and two points shy of Bristol City just above them.

The West Midlands side had won four matches on the road in a row but have since fallen to defeat in each of their last two games away from home, a record they will be looking to put right on Humberside tonight.

Hull will be looking forward to returning to action in front of their home fans after falling to a midweek defeat at Watford on Tuesday night, a result that ended their run of one defeat in six matches.

Ruben Selles’ side can take a huge step towards Championship safety tonight as they start the relegation zone just two points clear of the relegation zone in 20th place, but will climb into 18th with victory, five points clear of the drop zone with just four games to play.

The Tigers have won two of their last three matches in the East Riding of Yorkshire, and have lost only one of their last six games against Coventry, though that defeat to did come in their most recent outing earlier this season.

Coventry can take a huge stride towards the play-offs should they open up a five point gap in the top six’s chasing pack tonight, and should be able to get the job done with a victory and three points – I’m predicting a 2-1 away win.

Coventry to win and both teams to score, Jack Rudoni to score or assist, Charlie Hughes to be carded – 22/1 with Sky Bet

A win for the Sky Blues tonight will see Frank Lampard’s side open up a five point cushion in the play-off spots with just four games remaining, which one would have thought would be enough to extend their season for at least two more matches.

No player in the Championship had assisted more goals in all competitions than Rudoni ahead of the weekend, with the midfielder with 11 assists to his name, while six goals for his new club also makes him more than just a threat in front of goal himself.

No player on either side has received more cards than Hull’s Charlie Hughes this season, who will be into double figures for the campaign if his name goes into the book tonight.
