Sunday night’s win was the 35-year-old’s first success at Augusta National in Georgia having first partaken in the tournament back in 2009.
McIlroy now has five major titles to his name, with last weekend’s success coming 11 years after his previous major at the 2014 PGA Championship, having also won the US Open earlier in the same year.
Next month’s PGA Championship will take place at Quail Hollow in North Carolina, on a course where McIlroy has enjoyed success on numerous occasions before having won the Wells Fargo Championship there on four occasions, most recently last year.
The Northern Irishman is remains ranked second in the world and is the form player on this year’s PGA Tour, having also won the Players’ Championship and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, with no one else having won more than one so far this year.
