Conor McGregor has taken losing $500,000 on Paddy Pimblett vs Michael Chandler well.

The former dual-weight UFC champion placed $500,000 on Chandler knocking out Pimblett in the UFC 314 co-main event on Saturday night.

If the bet had come off, then he would have seen a return of $2.5million.

However, Pimblett pulled off a third-round TKO victory in a dominant display.

As a result, McGregor will have to part with six figures, although it is merely a drop in the ocean for a fighter worth a reported $180million.

Chandler you m********* you! Rest up, fair play,” McGregor wrote on social media on Monday night.

“My history with Mike and the odds on him by KO swayed me to take the risk.

“My head did say Paddy. He’s improving but with a way to go yet.

“Although the division is woeful, it is equal, and equal brings good fights.

“So happy days, ya’s’r welcome. Ah well, what’s $500,000 to an M G like me, can you please remind me? More than your purse. Thanks

“@Duelbits, best odds in the game! I’ll get it back I’m sure. In fact, I just did.”

McGregor might have come to terms with the financial hit, but Pimblett wasn’t best pleased that ‘Notorious’ had bet against him.

“Cheeky b***** cheeky little b******. The Scouse are meant to back each other,” he said post-fight, upon hearing about the wager.

“I didn’t expect that from Conor lad. If you want to come back, Con, I’m here, son.

“I’m waiting. I’ll mufti you just like I have muftied Chandler.”

McGregor made it clear pre-fight that he was keeping a close eye on the fight.

The 36-year-old hasn’t competed since July 2021 when he broke his leg against Dustin Poirier.

He was supposed to return to the cage last June against Chandler, but he withdrew from the contest after breaking his toe.

McGregor put his money on Chandler winning by KO

Pimblett is keen on exchanging leather with McGregor in the not-so-distant future, although he has his reservations about the blockbuster showdown.

“I don’t think he is coming back,” he added of McGregor. “He’s got enough money, he doesn’t need to come back.

“But if he does that, then the Baddy is waiting for him.”
