Inter Milan took large stride into the semi finals of the Champions League last week with a surprise 2-1 win in Munich against six-time European champions Bayern Munich.

Simone Inzaghi’s side head into Wednesday night’s home leg unbeaten in their last 12 matches in all competitions and fresh from a 3-1 win over Cagliari on Saturday evening which saw them maintain their three point lead at the top of Serie A.

Bayern Munich make the daunting trip to the San Siro on Wednesday night looking to do what no side has done since way back in September and beat the Nerazzurri in their own back yard.

Vincent Kompany’s side recovered from their home defeat by the Italians last week, just their second home loss since the start of December, by maintaining their six point lead at the top of the Bundesliga with a 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

History does favour the German side on Wednesday night, with the Bavarians boasting a perfect 4-0 winning record when taking on the Italians at the San Siro, most recently triumphing 2-0 back in September 2022, though Inter did go on to reach the final of the competitions that season.
