There could be some draft drama pending this year.

The New York Giants are holding a late private workout with quarterback Shedeur Sanders in Colorado on Thursday, per multiple reports.

The Giants are big players in this year’s NFL draft, which takes places next week, as they hold the No.3 pick.

The side need a long-term solution to quarterback and exploring Sanders comes as they look to do their due diligence on every player in that position.

Currently, New York houses veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, who both recently signed contracts with the side.

In last year’s 3-14 campaign, the Giants started three quarterbacks in Daniel Jones, Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito.

DeVito is the only player that remains from that trio after Jones was released and Lock signed with the Seattle Seahawks.

Sanders is rated as one of the best quarterbacks in the country with only Miami’s Cam Ward thought of more highly than him.

Sanders has had visits with the Cleveland Browns, who own the No.2 pick, and the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have the 21st pick.

Many expected Sanders to head to the New Orleans Saints, who have the ninth pick, following news that Derek Carr is dealing with a serious shoulder injury.

The Giants’ interest in Sanders comes just two weeks after general manager Joe Schoen suggested they don’t need to draft a third quarterback.

“We set it up where we don’t have to (take a quarterback at No. 3). We can go several different directions,” he said at the NFL annual league meeting.

“Ultimately, in theory … you want to put them in there and say, ‘Hey, here’s our franchise quarterback for the next 15 years.’ There’s got to be one available, and they’ve got to check a lot of boxes.

“As we do our homework, if there’s not a guy, taking one to check the box — if it’s not the guy — that’s not a good plan.”

So while Schoen’s remarks left everyone thinking that a third quarterback isn’t coming to the Giants, it seems they are still open to everything as the draft approaches closer.

It could be that the Giants are simply trying to drum up interest in Sanders.

They could trade down to get him as long as they don’t go any lower than No. 8, where the Saints are lurking at No. 9 to take him.

There is pressure on Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll from owner John Mara, and so the choice between drafting Sanders or sticking with Wilson and Winston could be a job defining choice.
